Extreme Couponing

Week 2 Shopping with Coupons

So once again our shopping went smoothly.  It really does pay to make a meal plan for the week including 7 dinners, breakfast & lunch ideas, and snacks for lunches.  This way I know I will have all the ingredients necessary to make that many meals.  I hit 2 stores before meeting John at No Frills to do our major grocery shopping to save time and decrease his aversion to shopping.

At Foodland I got Maxx Scoop litter which was on sale for $5.99 less $1 off coupon – $4.99 for a large bucket.  Also got a roast and cheese slices on sale $4.97 for 48 slices.

Stopped at the pharmacy which I thought was a Rexall (rarely ever stop there), but turned out to be a Guardian…oops.  All the planning I did with the Rexall flyer was no good and there was no Guardian flyer at all this week, so will try again next week.  Oh well.  Took a good look around the store for future reference and spent nothing there.

At No Frills they are having a HUGE dollar sale so I knew we’d have a full cart regardless of what coupons I had.  I did get $1 off a 4 pack of Pizza Pops.  Head & Shoulders products were on sale for $5.19 and I had 2 coupons for $2.50 off so we bought 2 and saved ourselves $5.00 there.  We didn’t need them yet, but I added them to the bin in the closet as this is John’s preferred shampoo.

I did get 3 items totally for FREE!  Clorox wipes were on sale for $1 and today in the mail I got a $1 off coupon = FREE.  I printed off 2 McCain cake $1 off coupons and they are on sale for $1 each so I got 2 for free (printble coupon expres Jan. 16th).  I was surprised they still had the cakes in stock.

I am worried about our stock of toilet paper, laundry detergent, and fabric softener so I’m hoping there will be a sale on those next week.  I’ve got coupons ready for those, but haven’t found any deals yet.

The coupon binder is working well using the sheet protectors divided up to hold business cards.  I got those at Staples and am using my old briefcase/binder because it zips up and nothing will fall out.  All I need to do is get some more dividers and label my categories.  I do take it into the store with me in case I see a deal not on the flyer that I may want to take advantage of.

Happy Shopping!

  1. Greetings, There’s no doubt that your website could possibly be having internet browser compatibility problems. When I look at your web site in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in I.E., it has some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to give you a quick heads up! Aside from that, excellent site!|

  7. It sounds like you’ve got the whole coupon thing figured out. I just started this week, did my first CVS shopping trip last night…looking forward to really getting into this! It’s kind of addictive, isn’t it?

    • Wish we had CVS and Target here in Canada. None of our stores double or triple coupons and none print off coupons with our store receipts. We can still do pretty good though. It is addictive though. I hunt for deals online for a few minutes every day.
