Thumper’s Tuna-Noodle Casserole

From Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse Cookbook (A Golden Book) I received when I was 7 and still use about once a week.

1 can (7.5 oz) tuna fish (drained)

1 can (8.75 oz) green peas (drained)

1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup milk

3 cups cooked noodles

1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Empty tuna into 1.5 quart casserole dish.  With a fork, break up into small pieces.

Add cream of mushroom soup to the tuna in the casserole and stir.  Stir in the milk a little at a time.

Add the peas, noodles and salt to the tuna mixture and stir everything together.

Bake for 30 minutes.  Serves 4.

Angela’s notes:  I add pepper with the salt.  I usually top my bowl with parmesan cheese.  Sometimes if I don’t have a can of peas I use 2 cups of frozen peas (after thawed of course) or peas and carrots mixed.

  1. Seriously – thanks for posting this….I remember making it as a kid & today I had a pang of nostalgia. Hopefully it tastes as good as I remember!

  3. yummm! I make a very similar casserole using frozen peas – I add some dried tarragon to the soup mixture, along with some other goodies, and layer the tuna & peas in between 2 layers of sliced potatoes/onions. Great comfort food & fabulous to have on hand for our business!
